Molly Morpeth Canaday Award - 3D (three dimensional art form) (Cancelled due to Covid-19 lockdown) Gallery Talk - Deborah Rundle (past major winner 2018 MMCA 3D Award and Pre-selection judge 2020.) 11am Saturday, 4 April 2020 Deborah will discuss particular artworks from the present Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 3D exhibition and the process she undertook in making a pre-selection. She will also comment on aspects of her own conceptual and material approach to art making and how winning the MMCA 3D major award in 2018 made a difference. Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Deborah’s artwork principally utilises text. She investigates ways in which power plays out in the social and political domain in order to muse on possibilities for change. Her artworks frequently call up the past, engaging in both a critique of the present, and a lament for the failure of a future once promised. Recent exhibitions include: How to Live Together, ST Paul St Gallery, Auckland 2019; Are We Not Ready? Te Tuhi, Auckland 2018; Hybrid Spring, Enjoy Public Art Gallery, Wellington, 2018; The Tomorrow People, Adam Art Gallery Te Pātaka Toi, Wellington, 2017. In 2018 Deborah travelled to Rome as the inaugural holder of the British School at Rome / Wallace Arts Trust Residency. Also in 2018, she won the Molly Morpeth Canaday 3D award with Employee of the Month. Deborah is also a member of the art collective Public Share. The collective combines object making and site exploration with social engagement and critique, with a particular focus on the politics of the workplace. Where - Te Koputu Exhibition Centre, Whakatane
